The service
IP Info is maintained and supported by Shifter. Using the website or API means accepting these terms. The service is currently provided without fees, signup or an API key. These terms do not create a paid Shifter subscription.
Permitted use
You may use the API in applications, scripts and AI agents, including commercial applications, subject to applicable law and these terms. Make requests you need for your application, and handle temporary failures responsibly.
Acceptable use
Do not disrupt the service, deliberately exhaust capacity, bypass technical protections, use it for unlawful activity, or attempt to obtain credentials or non-public systems. Shifter may restrict abusive traffic or suspend access to protect the service. No application quota does not mean unlimited capacity.
Data and third-party rights
Location and network information comes from a licensed third-party database. Location is approximate and may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. It does not identify a person, provide a precise physical address, or establish VPN/proxy status. Rights in the database remain with its owners. API access does not grant a database download, bulk redistribution license, or rights beyond those Shifter can lawfully provide.
Availability and reliance
The service is provided as available, without an uptime, accuracy or support-response guarantee. Independently verify data before consequential decisions. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Shifter does not provide warranties of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose and is not responsible for losses resulting from reliance on the data or service interruptions. Nothing here excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes
Shifter may change or discontinue the service. Material changes will be described on this site with an updated date. Changes do not authorize charging you without a separate agreement.
